More model informationThis is a high-resolution Digital Outcrop Model of the Teal ridge outcrop in the Glen Torridon clay-bearing unit of Gale crater, Mars. This model is made using Navcam and Mastcam photos taken between sols 2440 and 2447 by the rover Curiosity. These images are available on the PDS archive.
This little mesa situated in the “Visionarium” area allowed us to observe many well expressed cross-stratifications in this sandstone outcrop, likely deposited under an energetic fluviatile environment. On this 3D model, we can see this stratal pattern quite well.
Model by Gwénaël Caravaca of LPG Nantes (UMR 6112 CNRS).
