More model informationFigurine representing an ithyphallic satyr (classical period, around 450 BC), Corinth (?), collections of the Cantonal Museum of Archaeology and History (MCAH, no. 30432). This small, erect satyr - called ithyphallic - belongs to the category of grotesque and grimacing figures. This type of figurine is found in tombs and shrines. Their cavalier attitude and heightened “libido” probably gave them a so-called “apotropaic” function, in other words, protection by repelling the evil eye.
