Terrestrial Photogrammetry of Vegetation 3D Model
Capturing intricate structures such as utility lines or tree branches is the holy grail of modern photogrammetry and is usually left to much more expensive terrestrial scanners or aerial lidar. But, when weather conditions permit, the correct tools are used and the data is both acquired and processed skillfully it is possible to produce LiDAR-quality results from photographs. This model was captured with a Nikon D850 46 megapixel full frame DSLR with a RedCatch Mono GNSS/IMU sensor attached to the hot shoe. This model was built from about 200 frames taken by circling the tree on the ground about 30 feet from the base.
