Part of the CGCookie.com Fundamentals of Texturing course. Uploaded here for grading. The exercise was to handpaint a texture for a provided axe model using techniques covered so far. I found myself having to tackle this exercise over two sittings, the first session being the metal parts which I’m not entirely happy with because I think it looks a little like stone and the rest being the following day. There was a danger of the wood being way more cartoon-like than the axe head and I found myself tackling the wood and the wrapping around the handle much quicker because I was being more loose. Overall I’m quite proud of my first time texture painting despite feeling very restricted by the 512x512 required texture resolution. Again, the model was provided for the exercise and not modelled by myself, I only textured it.
