Model by Jonathan Green.
The bakery owned and run by the Abraham’s family, as it was in the 1950’s before it was demolished. The adjacent building with other shops was also there at that time, and has been included, modelled as it is today to give context and show where the bakery once stood. The bakery was built at around the same time as the windmill, and once took in flour from the windmill for baking. Later on, big roller mills took over most flour production, and it was common for them to advertise their own flour. Since Hovis and Turog were rivals, the signs would not normally be seen together on the same building, as they are here. Model is photo-matched to an original photo in the FUW archive. All original advertising was also sourced to match the photo.
