More model informationThe Battle of Salamis
The Battle of Salamis was a great war that showcased the Greeks’ military strategies. Themistocles sent a servant to Xerxes’s camp with a message that he wanted to switch sides. Xerxes falls for the message and Themistocles tells them to attack the navy in between the island of Salamis and the Greek mainland. As the Persians approached, the Greeks appeared to retreat, but this was a trap to lure the Persians further into the channel. The Persians fell for the trap and became surrounded. The Greeks rammed their ships into the Persian ships causing hundreds of the Persian ships to sink. The Greeks only lost 40 ships and defeated the Persians in the battle of Salamis.
