The Casa Bartholdy fresco cycle

This model visualizes a reconstruction of the fresco cycle at Casa Bartholdy (the appartment inhabited by Jakob Salomon Bartholdy within the Palazzo Zucchari) in Rome. These frescoes have been painted by the group of German artists called the Nazarenes in 1816. The frescoes were removed in 1885 and transferred to the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Since then, the exact order of the paintings has been debated. This reconstruction is based on the order presented by Robert McVaugh in his article “A Revised Reconstruction of the Casa Bartholdy Fresco Cycle” in 1984.
