This is a 3D scan of the holotype fossil specimen of Calymene blumenbachii, the “Dudley Bug”, one of the best known species of trilobite. This specimen comes from Dudley from the Much Wenlock Limestone Formation, and lived around 428 million years ago, when the Midlands was covered by warm, shallow, tropical seas. Digitised using an Artec Spider 3D scanner by University of Birmingham Palaeobiology & Palaeoenvironments undergraduate student Luke Meade.
