The Gasworks Lion

Haigh Woodland Park, Wigan

This stone carving of a lion is located at Haigh Woodland Park in Wigan, the former home of James Lindsay, the 7th Earl of Balcarres.

The lion is a surviving artefact of the former Wigan Gasworks, pictured in this photograph prior to the demolition of the Gasworks:
