The Gokstad ship is a 9th-century Viking ship found in a burial mound at Gokstad in Norway in 1880. It was clinker-built and intended for warfare, trade, transportation of people and cargo. The crew would have been between 40 and 70 with a maximum speed of 11–12 knots. Dendrochronological analysis of the timbers dates the ship to around 890 AD. Original model built by Harald Åkerlund at the Swedish Maritime Museum in 1953–1954. 3D model created by Adam de Kaminski for SMTM, 2023.
