The Gran Riparo d’Archeï, Main Panel 3D Model
Five hundred painted motifs were counted as a minimum estimate on the Archeï VII main panel at western side of the Archeï VII shelter , which include also some engravings and painted engravings. The majority of paintings and engravings can be referred to the late bovidian period and early camel period (following the perioditization of the Ennedi rock art by Bailloud, 1997). At the panel centre it is possible to note some oustanding examples of warriors monted on white camels, represented in the “flying gallop” pose. Few humans present in the mid-section of the main panel, characterized by an overall pear-shaped body, prominent bellies, thick thighs and buttocks, stumpy arms, narrow shoulders tapering to a small head, can be referred to the Hohou style, referred to the middle bovidian period by Bailloud (1997). The panel is about 20 metres long. The scan was carried out in cross-polarized light.
