The Last Tree
A lone tree stands on a field of dead trees and turmoil. It is the only thing left alive in this wasteland. It has seen the birth and death of civilizations, the rise and fall of empires. Now the same fate falls on its own, as the last of the dead trees fall, their leaves crumbling and turning to dust. It stands alone, watching as the wind blows through its branches and the world turns to dust.
I wanted to try some experimental volumetric fog for this scene. The results were suprisingly good, though it would need some optimization to be more performant. It’s most probably too heavy for mobile, but at least it looks cool on a computer. Yay!
This scene was made for the Sketchfabs Weekly challenge (week 2). I sculpted the main tree and tree stumps in Nomad sculpt (I highly recommend that app for sculpting on a tablet), everything else I modeled and animated in Blender. Texturing was done in Substance Painter.
