France. 1804-1814. Gold-plated copper.
In the nineteenth century to validate the authenticity of the document often used personal seals. They could be in different forms: in the form of a ring, pendant, or desktop.
In the collection of the The Museum of the Patriotic war of 1812 preserves three of the ring-print that belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte. They are made of copper with gold. The first print shows the letter “N” in a wreath of Laurel and oak branches under the Imperial crown; on the second eagle, holding before him a tablet with the inscription in French “Napoleon, Emperor”; in the third an eagle sitting on a hemisphere, surrounded by the Latin inscription “the great Seal”.
