More model informationThis 1718 “machine gun” was invented and patented by James Puckle, a British inventor, for use as an anti-boarding weapon on naval vessels. The only known purchaser of these firearms was John Montagu, 2nd Duke of Montagu, for an expedition in 1722. Although the Puckle Gun was a financial failure, with only a few units produced, it is still a fascinating historical firearm.
There are currently two original puckle guns available for viewing at historical 13th-century houses in England.
