Fortuna is represented standing, holding in her left hand the horn of plenty (filled with fruits, symbol of wealth of the Earth), and on the right a long sceptre. Pontus, God of the Black Sea, is represented in the left, rising nude from the waves of the seа, looking up towards the goddess. With the right hand is leaning on a tree and with the left one on the prow of a ship. The piece was discovered in Constanta in 1962. The relief dated from the first half of the 2nd century A.D. MATERIALS: Marble, total height 1.55 m; height of Fortuna 1.44 m; height of Pontus 0.49 m LOCATION: Museum of National History and Archaeology in Constanta, Romania
