OA South undertook a building survey of the Cliveden Sounding Chamber for the National Trust, using photogrammetry in low light conditions.

The South Terrace at Cliveden is the principal surviving element from the Duke of Buckingham’s mansion constructed at the site in the later 17th century. Beneath the central section of the terrace is a pair of domed spaces which are understood to have historically been used as music rooms.

The form of these ‘Sounding Chambers’ has been considerably altered in the 20th century but they are likely to have originally been fine architectural spaces, possibly decorated with friezes and statues.
