The Thinker (French: Le Penseur) is a bronze sculpture by Auguste Rodin. Rodin first conceived the figure as part of his work The Gates of Hell commissioned in 1880, but the first of the familiar monumental bronze castings did not appear until 1904. A bronze cast of the sculpture can be found in the garden of the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen. The museum has a unique Rodin collection with a total of 34 sculptures, commissioned directly from the artist himself in the years 1900-1914, including well-known and monumental works.
