More model informationThis Neolithic Long Barrow is on Cranborne Chase, at the SW end of the Dorset Cursus. It was excavated in 1933 by Drew and Piggott, with Alexander Kieller assuming responsibility for all the survey work. Little did he know that nearly 90 years later we would be able to take his paper contour plan and digitally recreate the pre-excavated barrow as a 3D model. The model was created using tools available in QGIS. Drew, C. D. and Piggott, S. 1936 The Excavation of Long Barrow 163a on Thickthorn Down, Dorset.
