Thief of the Calvary, Master Bartomeu

The whole of Calvary is made up of five sculptures representing Christ, the two thieves, Saint John and the Virgin. Dating back to the 13th century, its authorship is controversial, though there are those who attribute it to Master Bartomeu or his workshop. They come from the cemetery of Girona Cathedral, but are currently part of the speech of the Museu d’Art de Girona.The sculptures, in numulite stone, have stylistic features of Romanesque and Gothic and are completely polychrome and gilded.
