Thomas Earp font 1893

Rochester Cathedral font designed by Thomas Earp in 1893. Hopton Wood stone with oak and iron cover (not modelled). Inscription on plinth: ‘In memorial H. W. Burrows, Canon: AD 1881-1892’. Circular bowl supported on four large columns intersperesed with four smaller pink marble columns and rising from a plinth of two steps. Four scenes in relief with eight single figures in pairs seperating the groups. This font replaced a previous that was gifted to Detford Parish Church.
