A recreation of a drop candy roller from Thomas Mills & Bros patented in 1871. It was designed for use in making drop candy to be sold to American candy stores for making confectionary. Artstation Project
I made this model after having seen a video by Lofty Pursuits - Victorian Nectar Drop Candy which showed it in use. It’s design and mechanisms interested me and I sought to recreate it as best I could and then animate it in action. For this process I found several patent designs online as well as drawn marketing reference from the catalogue back in the time which I used for reference on dimensions, how it was put together and it’s look as well as numerous screenshots from Lofty Pursuits videos and images online.
I modelled it within 3DS Max, sculpted and then baked detail using Zbrush and finally textured it within Substance Painter with custom materials made in Designer.
