More model informationThe “Goodwill Fountain” was presented as a gift to Sir Arthur Currie, the principle of McGill University in 1930. Origionally regarded as “a menace to our pure thinking girls and boys”, the statue is today one of the most prominent and intersting installations on campus. The creater of the statue, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, claimed the Three Bears serve as a symbol for the nations strength implanted in the fertility of the soil. Although loved by most students, few know of the story behind the Three Bears.
