The tiger is the largest living cat species. It inhabits mainly forests, from coniferous and temperate broadleaf and mixed forests in the Russian Far East and Northeast China to tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests on the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. The Siberian and Bengal tigers, along with the extinct Caspian tiger are considered to be the largest of the species in size, while islands tigers are the smallest . It is an apex predator that mainly feeds on ungulates.
