Tipperty Tile Works, Money Bank 3D Model
Artefact from the collections of Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums.
Money Bank from Tipperty Tile Works, Aberdeenshire. Often coined as a pirlie pig. The item came in to the collection in 1950.
The Works consisted of four circular kilns in a two-storey building and may pre-date 1860. The premises closed in 1980 and is now used as an industrial unit with some features remaining.
Tipperty also featured a 2-ft. gauge railway and manufactured tile field drains. A kind of drainage system that operates underground, removing surplus water from soil. Hinting at the Works agricultural past.
