More model informationGosses Bluff meteor crater. Known as Tnorala in to the Western Arrernte indigenous people. It is a erosian remnant of a 142.5 (+- .8) million year old impact crater. The crater was caused by a commet core or meteorite 1km across. Originaly the impact crater was 23 K across. Now it is 5 K across and 150 meters tall. The Arrernte have a legend about the crater being created by a child falling from the sky.
The model was created with 159 aerial images that I shot as part of a National Geographic Magazine assignment.
