More model informationThis artifact is a tobacco bowl. This tobacco bowl in particular is made out of ball clay. The tobacco bowl was used for smoking tobacco and has origins from England. The tobacco bowl could’ve been meaningful to the owner because the owner probably liked smoking. The archaeological themes that apply to this artifact are “technological change” and “childhood vs. adulthood”. The tobacco bowl represents technological change because in the 1800’s tobacco bowls had to be handmade, but today some are made in factories and some are handmade. I also selected childhood vs. adulthood because adults were the most likely to use tobacco bowls.
