More model informationRoland de Vaux was a 14th-century descendant of an illegitimate son of an early lord of Gilsland. In the 12th century the de Vaux family granted the land to found Lanercost Priory.
Decoration on the chest consists of four quatrefoil panels within a moulded frame. It has been built into the wall of the priory church in the north transept.
