This specimen of tonalite comes from San Diego County, California. It is about 8 cm in longest dimension. The dominant minerals are grey translucent quartz, whitish plagioclase and black hornblende. Biotite is also present; it appears as black flakes that contrast with the hornblende that shows multiple directions of cleavage.
