Description: Torre del Serpe is a watchtower on the Apulian coast near Otranto (Italy). It falls within the category of the towers at the base and circular conical shape. It is believed that its construction dates back to Roman times and that the tower had a lighthouse and was restored in frederician age following in strategic enhancement wanted by the Federico II The name is linked to an ancient legend that tells of a serpent every night climbed the cliff to drink the oil that kept alight the lighthouse lantern.
