Town Creek Indian Mound 2022 Grid 23D Model
This model shows the base of excavations from Grid 2 located in the North Field of Town Creek Indian Mound State Historic Site (31MG3). This excavation block represents 12 square meters and was placed in this location to test the results of multiple geophysical remote sensing surveys, including ground penetrating radar (GPR) and magnetometry. Multiple suspected post hole features and two large, refuse-filled pits were documented and mapped within Grid 2. This work is the result of a collaborative research project between the North Carolina Office of state Archaeology, the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at UNC Chapel Hill, NC Historic Sites, and the North Carolina Archaeological Society. This model was constructed by David Cranford 72 photos using Agisoft Metashape software. (Credit: NCDNCR/OSA).
