Description: This is a 3D laser surface scan of the left upper incisor / front tooth from Toxodon. It is between 126,000 and 11,700 years old. This has been scanned as part of the Museum’s Darwin Fossil Mammals digitisation project. Find out more at www.nhm.ac.uk/darwinsfossils.
Comments: When describing this tooth, Owen was unsure whether to allocate this to the same species as the Toxodon platensis cranium. He did think it belonged to the same species as the lower jaw. The latter specimen was named Toxodon darwinii after Darwin. This likely represents the same species as T. platensis.
