More model informationThis lead scupper would have been fitted into Trial’s hull to allow seawater to drain from the deck. Originally a cylindrical or ‘gutter’ shape, it has been squashed flat by a combination of the wrecking event and natural forces.
In May 2021, the WA Museum travelled to the Montebello Islands and Trial Rocks, as part of the Disney+ ‘Shipwreck Hunters Australia’ documentary series, in conjunction with Terra Australis Productions and VAM Media. The scupper was recovered by the WA Museum from the Trial (1622) wreck plume area (east of TR03) in May 2021.
