Traditional carved Bell w/ LOD - Nepal Heritage3D Model
This ancient and traditional bell is located inside premises of “Jesthavarna Mahvihar” in Kathmandu. Mahavihar are monasteries that are usually two stories tall, very much important to cultural community called “newar” who are Kathmandu’s historical inhabitants.
It is said that by ringing the bell, the devotee informs the deity of his arrival. This bell is beautifully carved and stands together with Buddha and other statues at the top.
There are various inscription within the temple on various objects like roof, walls written N.S 589, NS 793, NS 833, NS 993, which is equal to 1469 AD, 1673 AD, 1713 AD and 1813 AD. No inscription written on the bell was found.
