“This imperial portrait is influenced by the look of Agrippina Minor, great-grandson [sic] of Augustus and mother of Nero[…]. Actually, the mother of the emperor could be portrayed here, with the hairstyle of her times[....] The large recess on the back of the neck housed a pin to attach the colossal statue (height about 4.80m) to the back wall for greater stability.” - Informational plaque at the Trajan’s Market Museum, Rome.
