Transplant- Physical reality is transplanted via photogrammetry and AR.
“Transplant” explores voulmetric capture as an artform. These models are presented in a Magic Leap One app, where users can interact with them, exploring short audio interviews from the people photographed.
It’s my first project on the MagicLeap, and premiered at the Flimgate Interactive Media Festival and the Arcadia Earth exhibition, during Miami’s Art Week, December 2018.
Transplant explores the concept of putting down roots in foreign environments. Banyan trees, one of the natural icons of Miami, are actually native to India, brought to the U.S. in the early 1900’s. Likewise, more than 50% of the residents of Miami are foreign-born “transplants.” And all of us have also been putting down roots in the digital realm. These conceptes are explored via Photogrammetry and AR.
