Every October, the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology conducts a beginning field experience for our first year undergraduate archaeology majors.
Eighteen students and three student teaching assistants participated in this year’s training on October 3, 2021 and excavated six 1x1 meter test units. These units revealed evidence of at least three subsurface cultural features and a couple hundred prehistoric period artifacts.
The Tremaine site (47-LC-95) is a Late Prehistoric Period village site of the Oneota Culture in Western Wisconsin. Other models from the Tremaine Site can be found here.
