Main Trial wreck site, south-west of the Trial Rocks.

In May 2021, the WA Museum travelled to the Montebello Islands and Trial Rocks, as part of the Disney+ ‘Shipwreck Hunters Australia’ documentary series, in conjunction with Terra Australis Productions and VAM Media. The main Trial site area (TR01) was revisited and surveyed using 3D photogrammetry. When compared with the 1971 and 1985 site plans from earlier WA Museum expeditions, the survey showed that the cannon and anchors continue to be moved around the site by natural forces on this highly dynamic site.
