This is a fogotten corner of Bnbecula with only four entries on Canmore. The area is an archipelago of islands - three main islands, Triallabreac, Eilean na Cille and Fodragaigh togeter with a host of smaller. Most of the islands are interconnected at low tides but some require a boat or a swim to reach.
Recently I have taken an interest in this forgotten corner of Benbecukla and over several brief field trips have managed to identify around 100 sites of interest, all of which deserve recoding as part of the official recods. This archipelago was certainly an important economical unit on the Western Isles, ad considerable investments in materals and manpower were made here
This was first thought to be a shieling hut group, but now seems more likely to be a turf-walled farmstead, similar to structures found on nearby Fodragaigh. The grass over the site is winter-bleached and more might be learned from a spring visit. The site is on the south facing slope visible (just) from Eilean na Cille.
