Triangles: 1.8k
Vertices: 979
More model informationThe triangulated grid of this dome is based on the geodesic subdivision method used by Temcor (now CST) for the U.S. science station dome at the South Pole, built between 1971 & 1973 and removed in 2009. In the structure shown here, the ratio of height to base diameter is 0.41209. There are 1848 triangular faces, 2826 struts and 979 hubs. All 108 struts defining the dome footprint are the same length. Total strut lengths: 35.
This height to base ratio is the same as that of a 364-foot dome in Alberta, Canada, built in 2015 by Titan Environmental Containment Ltd. That dome, which stores lime for cement production, uses different geometry.
