More model informationAnimals such as Tullimonstrum are great examples how some creatures aren’t easy to classify and diagnose. Tullimonstrum (“Tulli’s Monster”) was an aquatic Carboniferous animal probably being a carnivore, hence the long proboscis with small jaws that had pointed teeth, something that we can assume belonged to hunters.
Due to its seriously unclear anatomy, there were various speculations which put the animal into Mollusca, Annelida or the Chordata evolutional phylium.
The thing is, when something is extinct, and only fossils are avaliable, it’s already impossible to identify the animal the way we can identify extant (living) species to 100% clear details.
