More model informationIn February 1905, Theodore Davis discovered the tomb of Yuya (him) and Tuya (her) in the northeastern sector of the Valley of the Kings, parents of the Great Royal Wife of Amenhotep III, Tiyi. James Quibell was in charge of the excavation and its publication. In addition to the golden masks covering the mummies, there were furniture, a chariot, an extraordinary copy of the Book of the Dead, and both had an enormous wooden sarcophagus with an anthropomorphic coffin inside made of the same wood and covered with gold leaf. Yuya’s coffin is one of the most beautiful examples to come out of the royal workshops of the 18th dynasty.
