Meet the street artist who’s whipped out his spray can for the royal wedding – in the name of true love.
Pegasus is the name and signature of a semi anonymous North London street artist. Originally from Chicago, his stencilled pieces play with popular culture’s most recognisable icons, such as Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Lucille Ball, Amy Winehouse, Catherine Middleton, Queen Elizabeth II, JFK and Elvis Presley and are sometimes ironic or controversial.
The artist has stated his influences include “the genius Andy Warhol. I also admire other artists such as Lichtenstein, Damien Hirst, Keith Haring, Mr Brainwash, Eelus and of course Mr Banksy.” Pegasus is featured in two books published in 2013. They are titled Happy Graffiti and Planet Banksy. The Artist has designed a book cover for a special anniversary edition of Encycopedia Madonnica soon to be released in the summer of 2015.
