Two-handed Sword, Edinburgh Castle3D ModelNoAI
This is a replica 16th century style two-handed sword from Edinburgh Castle. It has a steel blade and cross-guard with a wooden handle. The blade is blunt and has two holes which appear to have been drilled in the middle of blade just above the ricasso, possibly to aid in mounting the sword in the past.
The cross-guard consists of two upwardly curved bars on both sides of the blade ending in a spiral, and two loops at the broad sides. Fleur-de-lis style decoration inside the loops. The handle is made of a single piece of wood and ends in a decorative stop-grip. Thin metal wire is wrapped around the base of the handle – this is a later addition and presumably to stabilise the cracks in the wood.
