More model informationThe Type 24 pillbox was a common design of fortification built across Britain in 1940, as the nation faced the prospect of invasion. Along sections of the Trivers Trent, Tame and Dove series of these pillboxes formed “Stop Line Number 5,” which used the rivers as natural barriers and reinforced likely crossing points for invaders. This rendering is based on the pillbox that still stands today, in the grounds of the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire.
