More model information

3D scan of a cast of a Tyrannosaurus rex skull from South Dakota, USA. The dinosaur lived 68 to 66 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous. It was bipedal (two-legged) and one of the last large terrestrial carnivores that lived before the mass extinction event, that, among many others, killed all non-avian dinosaurs. Tyrannosaurus rex is probably the most well-known dinosaur, with many people even knowing his full scientific name.

The cast of the skull of Tyrannosaurus rex can be found in Hall 10 of the NHM Vienna and stands next to the skull of a Triceratops horridus.

Specimen: Tyrannosaurus rex (Osborn, 1905)

Inventory number: NHMW-GEO-1998/0049/0001

Collection: Natural History Museum Vienna, Geology & Paleontology Dept., Vertebrate Coll. (curator: Ursula Göhlich)
