More model informationA type VII C U-boot. It was launched on 15 December 1942, and commissioned on 26 January 1943 under the command of Oberleutnant zur See Guido Hyronimus.
It sank on 20.08.1943 on a training misson, after a collision with the target ship Bolkoburg. The crew consisted of 43 men, of which 22 survived and 21 perished in the Baltic Sea.
The wreck lies deep - 82 meters under the surface of the Baltic Sea, north of Jastarnia, Hel Peninsula. Identification of the wreck was performed by Baltictech team, with a thorough investigation conducted by Daniel Pastwa.
The scanning took 50 minutes of bottom time, with a total dive time exceeding 3 hours. Almost 10 000 photos were used to reconstruct the model
