UNC Bell Tower - BaseYour model is disabled. For more details go to Edit properties3D Model
The base of the bell tower at UNC Chapel Hill is particularly challenging to model using photogrammetry techniques due to its symmetry. Here, we modelled the base both inside and outside as a study in image acquisition and photogrammetry processing. We found it necessary to model all four sides individually before pulling them all together with shared Manual Tie Points.
The visualization shown here is a simplified texture mesh which drastically reduces the file size for visualization; however, the high definition point cloud provided an accuracy of 5mm.
The modeling of the bell tower at UNC Chapel Hill was completed through the following collaboration:
UNC Research Laboratories of Archaeology (https://sketchfab.com/rla-archaeology)
Aer Analytica LLC (Raleigh, NC USA)
Charlotte Aerial Solutions (Charlotte, NC USA)
vaireco GmbH (Konstanz, Germany)
