More model information
This is an unidentified concretion, before treatment. It was excavated from the engine room area of the ship in 2001. We can see what we believe are leather bands, potentially 4 or more, throughout the concretion. Other pieces taken from this concretion included an ironstone Willow Ware plate, a lantern base, and an iron bolt and bar.
We intend to photomodel this piece throughout its conservation treatment as a documentation tool.
What do you see? Stay tuned to find out what’s inside!
