More model information

This unidentified schooner barge was once thought to be the schooner barge, American (137x26x10 feet, 283 gross tons, 269 net tons), built in 1870 at Three Mile Bay, New York by Asa Wilcox and which foundered from a leak on October 1, 1894. However, evidence uncovered by LONMS archaeologists in June 2025 suggests that this vessel was lost no earlier than 1897, four years after American sank. While research into the wreck’s identity is ongoing it seems likely that this wreck may actually be the schooner barge Onondaga (136.9x26.6x11’, 364 gross tons), which was built in 1870 by Henry Roney at Garden Island, Ontario and which was lost on November 5, 1907.
