Uqsig: Dog Harness Toggle, E038

This is an uqsig (Inuktitut) or dog harness toggle made from walrus ivory. Part of fan-hitch style equipment favoured over sea ice and in treeless environments, the large hole would have attached to the sled rope, while the smaller hole would attach to the individual dog line or trace.
